A true-crime podcaster is found brutally stabbed to death in her home after walking her child to the bus stop. At first, all signs point to those closest to her. But when a friend and fellow podcaster digs into her obsession—a cold case laid to rest for fifteen years—and later turns up dead too, local police and the FBI realize that a serial killer dubbed the Silent Stalker could be striking again for the first time in years. With the FBI called in and no leads to follow, they quickly realize they need a brilliant mind to crack the case: FBI Agent Tara Mills. But Tara is reluctant at first. The case reminds her too much of her mother’s when it’s revealed that the victim’s daughter, a selective mute, lost her mother at the same age as Tara. But Tara is compelled as she realizes it is only a matter of time before the killer strikes again. As she peels back each layer, she falls deeper into the darkest depths of her mind and into the nightmares she had tried so hard to escape. Meanwhile, Tara digs deeper into her past, obsessed with revealing the mystery woman visiting her father in prison, which leads to a shocking discovery. As she battles her own psyche and more victims are murdered, Tara realizes that the key to solving it all could be what she finds most triggering: her connection to the victim’s daughter. As she takes a path she fears to travel, deep into the depths of her mind, she unveils a truth she never expected. This structure sets students against each other in competition, creates zip-code inequalities, and empowers an expensive and often damaging bureaucratic class of administrators. Due to shortages of teachers and staff, and to needless problems with curricula and testing, this system is about to fall. Historically, when feudal systems collapse, they create opportunities for new structures to emerge. Technology has made it possible to develop a new educational model that connects students to their community and reduces pressure on students and teachers. This new model makes it possible to deliver high quality education for all students, regardless of zip code, while turning students into active learners. Self Taught: Moving from a Seat Time Model to a Mastery Learning Model explains how this process can begin by asking just one question: what would you do if you needed to learn something?

If smartass carpenter Adam Hennessey hadn't stood up Charlie Grant over a year ago, he might not find himself on the other side of a slammed door. But when Adam volunteers to repair Charlie's deck as a favor to a friend, that's exactly where he finds himself. Does he regret standing her up? Yes. Does he find the cynical, sarcastic sports journalist unbearably sexy? Also yes. Does she hate his guts? All the yes. Charlie's not the forgiving type, especially after a broken heart in the past has left her jaded, but she can't deny that Adam, with his beard, tattoos and panty-melting smile (oh, and muscles--can't forget to mention the muscles) might just be winning her over. With a second chance on the line, Charlie will have to decide if getting nailed by the smoking hot carpenter is worth the risk.

This book was released on 2012-02-13 with total page 144 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Until the February 2004 gas crisis when Gazprom cut off all gas flows via Belarus, the issue of Belarus as a gas transit route was not addressed seriously despite this country’s transiting around 20% of Russia’s gas exports to Europe. The gas crisis threatened the reliability of gas supplies to Europe. It demonstrated the necessity of bringing Belarus back into focus, explaining how and why the seemingly amicable Russian-Belarussian relationship had deteriorated to such an extent, and suggesting how the problem might evolve in the future. This book shows that the reliability of the Belarussian gas transit routes is influenced by changes in the intensity of the Russian-Belarussian integration and explores whether Belarus is in a position to manage (or, indeed, survive) within the new, ‘commercial’ framework to which the gas issues had shifted following the failure to establish political union. The book predicts that the mainstay of Belarussian welfare is bound to deteriorate as Russia continues to increase its domestic gas prices at 20% annually as part of its energy strategy and in line with WTO requirements – thus, also making Belarus’s independent stance vis-à-vis Gazprom unsustainable. In order to secure gas prices at the level of, at least, Russian domestic prices, Belarus is likely to return to negotiating a joint venture operating the Belarussian transit network together with Gazprom. Yet, even if such a joint venture were to be formed, it would not eliminate the main reason of the unreliability of gas transit via Belarus – the weakness of the national economy. Therefore, unless Belarus embarks on reforms leading to substantial gas conservation, it will continue to be tempted to resort to unauthorised gas off-takes and non-payments undermining the reliability of transit.
